Easily one of the must see places (and most photographed by some accounts) in Lake Tahoe is the Emerald Bay. There are couple of vista points that provide unique views of the Fennette Island, the blue waters and the bay, provided you can find parking easily. This place is insanely crowded most part of the day. As the day dawns, the crowd lessens. And as you drive around the curve of this bay, you can see the bay and the island in its entirety.

We had been to Lake Tahoe several times but I have never had the opportunity to wait and photograph this landmark. After a long hike to the Eagle Lake (no we didn’t make it to the lake as it was getting dark and the walk back was more than a mile, perhaps next time), we were exhausted and famished. As the sun set behind the mountains, the light dazzled for few minutes providing all shades of red and purple. Certainly worth the wait. As darkness swept, tiredness sinked-in and stomach growled, we headed back…
