With no hurry to have an early start, we woke up at own pace, had breakfast at the hotel owner’s house and left to the Monteverde Cloud Forest. We noticed a large number of people wandering at the entrance and a huge crowd near the ticket booth. Only when we enquired about it did we realize that only a limited number of people were allowed inside the cloud forest. And the wait time was nearly 2 hours
Uh, what?! A wait time to enter the cloud forest? This was unheard of. Thinking that somebody might have misunderstood our question, we inquired with another person and got the same answer. So apparently, there is indeed a wait time to access the hiking trails.
It took a few minutes to digest this fact and since we really had no choice, we wandered near the entrance to kill time. Watching a few hummingbirds feeding on the nectar was a good time-pass.
I simply adore golden retrievers and I think they are the cutest and the loveliest dogs that ever exist. When I was cruising near the trail head, I noticed a huge dog that appeared like a hybrid golden retriever and it was indeed! And of course, I had to pet this beautiful dog.
Our names were called in a couple of hours and with a trail map in our hands, we entered the cloud forest. I really enjoyed the greenery around and the different kinds of trees, plants and flowers on the way. Hearing the chirping of birds from arbitrary places and trying to spot them was fun.
A part of the trail took us to a scenic viewpoint of the panoramic valley. Ever since we visited the Arenal Hanging Bridges, I started to enjoy walking across these long suspension bridges. Monteverde Cloud Forest has one hanging bridge and we took the trail to access this bridge.
We also wanted to see the trail to see the waterfalls, but we were so ravenous that if we had taken that trail, we would have most likely collapsed out of hunger. So we returned to the trail head. Nevertheless, we ended up having a great hike among the verdant forest.
